Feeding Birds
Responsibly

Here’s a few key tips

Clean your feeders daily: Regular cleaning prevents the build-up of bacteria and diseases.
Offer a variety of native-friendly food: Include seed mixes, nectar, fruit, and mealworms depending on the species in your area.
Use elevated or hanging feeders: Helps avoid predators like cats and keeps feeding areas sanitary
Don’t feed bread, processed foods, or meat: These offer little nutrition and can be harmful to birds’ digestive systems.
Don’t overfill feeders: Large quantities spoil quickly, invite pests, and encourage dependence.
Don’t allow food to get mouldy or wet: Damp or spoiled food can cause illness and fungal infections
